Kevin Morby - Little Wide Open

"There's something unintentionally musical about the Midwest; cicadas chirping in the trees, a train passing, a tornado siren going off," explains Morby. "If you listen, there are these almost ominous sounds taking place beneath the wide-open sky— its ugliness and its beauty and how the two are often working together simultaneously." Featuring a host of contributors including Justin Vernon, Aaron Dessner, and Lucinda Williams. Free bumper sticker with purchase while they last! Playing live on 8/28 at Buskirk-Chumley Theater with Sharon Van Etten

Claypool-Lennon Delirium - The Great Parrot-Ox & the Golden Egg of Empathy

The 3rd collaborative album between Les Claypool & Sean Ono Lennon is an elaborate concept record reflecting on morality, the warnings of AI, and the slippery slope of optimization without empathy. Told across 14 songs - which ooze with classic psychedelic / progressive rock stylings - and the accompanying comic book by Rich Ragsdale, comes in lavish packaging for both CD and LP formats.

The Spatulas - A Blue Dot

The Spatulas is essentially Miranda Soileau-Pratt and whomever she enlists to bring her vision to fruition. The project began in Oregon, before moving to Massachusetts, and now lives here locally in Bloomington. The post-NZ glory pop of Barbara Manning's SF Seals is in here, as is dense swirl of Rain Parade. Expertly recorded at Suddenly Studio by Emily Robb, mixed by Evan Mersky, and mastered into full cohesion by Sarah Register, the whole thing sounds loud and proud.

Jeff Parker & ETA IVtet - Happy Today

Led by guitarist Jeff Parker (Tortoise), featuring saxophonist Josh Johnson, bassist Anna Butterss, and drummer Jay Bellerose, the ETA IVtet is a band that grew out of a weekly residency started by Parker in 2016 at Northeast Los Angeles venue ETA. Over seven years of holding down that residency, Parker's ETA ensemble evolved from a band that played mostly standards into a group known for it's transcendent, long-form (sometimes stretching out for 45 minutes or more) journeys into innovative, often uncharted territories of groove-oriented, painterly, polyrhythmic, minimalist and mantric improvised music.

Released on May 16, 1966, Pet Sounds was produced and primarily composed by Brian Wilson and is considered a masterpiece of pop music and one of the most influential albums in history.
