RICHARD SWIFT (Los Angeles, Secretly Canadian)
It's still a nice & quiet hum that surrounds this man - brought on mostly by the incredible antique California-pop sound of his double-album THE NOVELIST / WALKING WITHOUT EFFORT. By the time his next record comes out in February, though, I'm betting that it'll feel more like a full bore stadium-sized roar as he's building a reputation for being one of the more incredible live acts and songwriters alive. Fans of everyone from McCartney, Prince, Nilsson and Booker T & the MGs will love this 5-piece band playing a rare in-store as they take a break from their current tour with the WALKMEN.

GENTLEMAN CALLER (Bloomington, Affirmation Records)
One of Indiana's best rock bands, Gentleman Caller have been writing and recording some of the most incredible, moody rock tunes. Somewhere between Mark Lanegan/Screaming Trees and Afghan Whigs/Twilight Singers, Kenny Childers and Co. just released their second full-length on Affirmation Records.

THE HOLLOWS (AKA Alex Mann & Kate Long)
This duo (sometimes moreso) has graced many a stage and inspired many a romantic tryst. Great singing, great songs and a new name. Righteous.
