Feel free to email us or stop in and sign up for a pre-order so you don't miss out! NEW ARRIVALS for June 13th .................................................. Black Country Communion - 2 (J&R) .................................................. Sophomore album from the group featuring the talents of Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater). Producer Kevin Shirley explains "I wanted to explore more of the Bonham sound and more importantly each member of the band gets a unique opportunity to shine, but the music always has the distinct sound." Blackie and the Rodeo Kings - Kings and Queens (Dramatico) .................................................. Over the past decade, B&TRK have evolved into one of the finest roots bands in the US. Their sum is indeed greater than the parts - and the parts are as good as they get. This release pairs the band with some of their favourite female singers and friends - Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Pam Tillis, Serena Ryder, Lucinda Williams, Cassandra Wilson, Amy Helm, Janiva Magness, Mary Margaret O'Hara, Sam Phillips, Sara Watkins, Exene Cervenka, Patti Scialfa and Holly Cole. Foo Fighters - Back and Forth DVD (RCA) .................................................. Back and Forth chronicles Foo Fighters' entire existence: from Dave Grohl's cassette demos to the band forming to play those songs to their ascent to becoming one of the biggest rock bands on the planet- and every Grammy win and sold out show along the way. Featuring Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear recalling every stage of the band's existence more candidly and intimately than ever before- culminating in a behind the scenes look at the direct-to-analog tape sessions in Grohl's garage that produced the new album, Wasting Light. The Hollows - Sweetie EP (self) .................................................. Local faves The Hollows are back with the follow-up to their 2006 full-length "Darlings of Naught." Featuring the incomparable Kate Long, as well as members of Magnolia Electric Co., Elephant Micah and Homecomings, the 7-song "Sweetie EP" was recorded at Russian Recording. As an added bonus, if you buy "Sweetie," you can get a CDR of the out of print "Darlings" album for $2 more. Junior Boys - It's All True (Domino) .................................................. You know something's different from the minute you put the needle on the record (you still do that, right?)... the insistent tempo and playfully production of the Junior Boys' 4th album has a crisp refreshing bounce. As the album progresses the songs showcase just how great a singer Jeremy Greenspan has become. After one spin of the album you come to realize Junior Boys have become a formidable production and arrangement team and It's All True is an epic. Paul McCartney - solo CD/LP reissues (Hear) .................................................. One of the most beloved solo debuts of all time, it yielded the timeless tracks "Every Night" and "Junk" along with the immortal classic "Maybe I'm Amazed." McCartney II was Paul's return to solo work after 9 years touring and having released several successful albums with Wings. The album produced enduring classics such as "Coming Up," "Waterfalls," & "Temporary Secretary." Paul McCartney personally supervised all aspects of these reissues. The remastering work was done at Abbey Road using the same team who recently completed the Beatles catalogue. Available as 2CD, 2LP or deluxe book versions. Mongrel Zine + CD #s 9 & 10 .................................................. Cartoonist Colin Upton gives us an in-depth history of underground comics over tea at his East Van apartment, Piero Ilov from Jack of Heart (France), considered the "chaos element" in Hell Shovel, Mr. Quintron gets paper thrown at him by little shits while working as a living exhibit at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Strange Attractor ponders the mystery of The Gruesomes' wigs, Human Eye's Johnny LZR waxes poetic, and from Vancouver The Jolts and The Spreads, from Montreal Primitive Hands, Cherie French, and Shortpants Romance, The Shrapnelles from Calgary, retrospectives on 60s garage band The Reekers & The Hangmen and 70s punk band The Zellots, plus columns, reviews, etc. + CD Comp with 25 mostly unreleased tracks from all the bands mentioned and more! Sebadoh - Bakesale [deluxe reissue] (Sub Pop) .................................................. Deluxe reissue of Sebadoh's 5th album - now featuring B-sides, EPs & rarities from the era plus a new 28-page booklet and notes from by the band. CD features a bonus disc and LP includes the bonus material as a digital download. Lou Barlow is the inquisitive and earnest leader who delivers with all the hurt and pain he can fit on his sleeve. Jason Loewenstein is the guy with the captivating guitar line. Put together, they're something like Donny and Marie- one is a little bit sensitive, the other a little bit rock n noise. Best New Reissue! Vetiver - The Errant Charm (Sub Pop) .................................................. Their 4th full-length represents a summation of the different styles and directions heard on past Vetiver releases while introducing some unexpected twists. Their tunes have been described as "dreamy, gentle songs that George Harrison would have written in some sunny country garden." This is a layered and rich record, with subtleties and nuances that reveal themselves with repeated listening. Woods - Sun & Shade (Woodsist) .................................................. Woods is a two-headed dog asleep on the porch and a butterfly on the windowsill... a Janus, a Gemini and a screen door. The sun won't fade and the earworms will not leave, but the jams go on too long for the girl in the back who wonders if her friends are at another bar. Still, the ballads always make her cry. Woods is up there relaying the Woods-feel: Folk-rock, fuzz, tambourines, tapes and raw lunch pulled straight from the yard. Pop songs and other things: Sun and Shade. Neil Young - A Treasure (Reprise) .................................................. The 12-track live album includes songs - 5 of which are previously unreleased - recorded during Young's 1984 and 1985 US tours without the support of an album, or Young's then record label due to unique and unusual circumstances. A Treasure features Young's onstage work with some of the greatest artists in the history of Country music, including the late, great Ben Keith on steel and slide guitar and Rufus Thibodeaux on fiddle, along with living legends Spooner Oldham and Hargus "Pig" Robbins on piano, Tim Drummond and Joe Allen on bass, Anthony Crawford on mandolin & guitars and Karl Himmel on drums, among many others. VA - Motown's Mowest Story (Light in the Attic) .................................................. With the majority of Motown's focus on the already established names of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and their latest chart dynamos, The Jackson 5, there wasn't as much attention being given to the diverse Mowest (Motown West) roster. Acts like Syreeta, Sisters Love, and G.C. Cameron seemed to get lost in the shuffle. Though the label released over 40 singles and close to a dozen albums from up and comers like Odyssey to established veterans Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, the expected hits never materialized and the imprint quietly folded in 1973. The Vinyl Zone (get into the groove!) .................................................. Each album has a review and enables you to listen to the entire album before you buy it. Give 'er a spin! Battles - Gloss Drop (Warp) .................................................. Gloss Drop is an entrancing album that defies both categorization and easy analysis. Just as Mirrored was a massive leap on from the early EPs that first got them noticed, this is truly another seismic shift, propelling them into uncharted territory. It is a sheer sense of fun, unpredictability and inventiveness that sets Battles apart from every other contemporary group. Stanier sums this up succinctly: "I don't think challenging, new music has to be super serious all the time. That's really boring to me and pushing boundaries should not be boring." Death Cab For Cutie - Codes and Keys (Barsuk) .................................................. Death Cab For Cutie will release their hugely anticipated new album, Codes and Keys, on May 31st. The multiple Grammy Award-nominated band will herald the album's release with a series of eagerly awaited live shows in and around their native Pacific Northwest. The album breaks away, though not completely, from the guitar-driven style of the band known so well to fans, making use of piano and electronically centered songs that will undoubtedly meet their expectations. The Cars - Move Like This (Hear) .................................................. After a string of platinum albums and Top 40 singles made them one of the most popular American rock bands of the late 70s thru mid-80s, The Cars are back in action with their very first studio album in 24 years! Featuring original band members Ric Ocasek, David Robinson, Elliot Easton & Greg Hawkes, Move Like This recalls the alt-rock minimalistic sound The Cars are so well known for, yet at the same time, maintains significant relevance to the music of today. Flogging Molly - Speed Of Darkness (Borstal) .................................................. Their 5th, and arguably most important album. In the words of singer Dave King, "It wasn't the album we set out to write. It became the album we had to write". Speed Of Darkness was written in Detroit, MI and takes a hardnosed look at the economic collapse in the US: the causes and the direct effect it has had on everyday people. The Motor City serves as the album's muse and one of the biggest examples of what has gone wrong. While attacking much of the greed and ignorance responsible for where we are, the album also delivers a message of hope, humanity and the resilience of mankind. Tyler The Creator - Goblin (XL) .................................................. The last thing you'd say about the prolific young rap collective Odd Future is that they're boring...you know what else? They're really good. Especially their ringleader called Tyler The Creator. And you know what else? It's awesome to see them play live. - NPR. Over the past few months Tyler and Odd Future have been speeding from the margins of the Internet toward the center of forward-thinking music circles thanks to a barrage of self-released albums, mayhem-inducing live performances and an ability - at this point, it's verging on desire - to instantly polarize listeners. - NY Times -------------------------------------------------- More information about shows and more on the horizon is available for the technologically inclined at http://www.landlockedmusic.com/ or http://www.facebook.com/pages/Landlocked-Music/24299970219 or http://twitter.com/landlockedmusic We are looking to buy/trade all your old unwanted CDs & LPs!
