Do ya smell that? No, not the students - it's Autumn. Tasty! As many of you have noticed, our recent Sub Pop LPs have been showing up with stickers on them saying something about "Loser Edition" on them. Perhaps you've been wondering "what is this here Loser Edition bout?" Simply stated, they're doing first pressings on colored vinyl that are only available to stores like Landlocked Music. You'll get these Loser Editions until the first press runs out, and they're stickered accordingly so you know you're getting something special. NEW ARRIVALS for September 6th .................................................. Balmorhea - Live at Sint-Elisabethkerk (Western Vinyl) .................................................. Though Balmorhea's studio recordings never fail to impress, their songs have always been most powerful and affecting when performed live. The group's intense soulfulness during a live set is consistently remarkable and this special recording from Ghent, Belgium is no exception. The opening track alone is goosebump-inducing, and perfectly sets the tone for this intimate recording. Live at The Bishop, TONIGHT! The Horrible Crowes - Elsie (Side One Dummy) .................................................. Most of us know Brian Fallon as the frontman for the Gaslight Anthem, an act who started out in Jersey basements and slowly built their way up to headlining New York s Radio City Music Hall. Despite the success Fallon has had with his main band he s always loved decidedly less rocking acts such as the Afghan Whigs and Tom Waits. The Horrible Crowes his new side-project alongside longtime friend Ian Perkins is his lounge-friendly tip of the hat to the acts who have shaped another side of his musical vision. Grace Jones - Hurricane (Fontana) .................................................. Hurricane is the tenth studio album by singer Grace Jones and her first album of new material in nineteen years. The disc, which features cameos from notables such as Brian Eno, Sly & Robbie and Tricky, among others, is a return to form for the eccentric "Queen of Gay Disco." Comes with an entire bonus disc, which includes a series of dub remixes. "It bubbles with conviction, the mock-fearsome, statuesque diva loading her lyrics with Prince-like panche. - Uncut" Peter Wolf Crier - Garden of Arms (Jagjaguwar) .................................................. Peter Wolf Crier's second album Garden of Arms is a document that paints a vivid portrait of all the pain and beauty of growth. Adapting the tenets of the grinding live show, the duo of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen transformed the fuzzy distortion, rolling and crashing drums, and laser-focused purposefulness into an intensely dynamic yet supremely polished album. At The Bishop on 10/12! Racebannon - Six Sik Sisters (Tizona) .................................................. It's been a scant 3 years since the last salvo from the Racebannon camp, but that time has not passed without vengeful fruit. The time draws nigh and the skies turn black for a new full-length from the venerable Bloomingtonian firing squad. With every subsequent release Racebannon continue to drop jaws and crack craniums with their mind-melt/sonic headfuck of genre-defying proportions, and show the listener that a band can continue to progress while still planting their sonic seed deep inside impure new soil. Acid Or Blood could not possibly prepare anyone for what would be found on their latest contaminated offering of flesh and blood, Six Sik Sisters. At the height of their game, simultaneously pro- and regressing, with a refined might indicative of a band in top form. Recorded by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Torche, Young Widows). Mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Baroness, Misfits, Bad Brains). Artwork by Tom Denney (Cannibal Corpse, Kylesa, Black Cobra). The Rapture - In the Grace of Your Love (DFA) .................................................. The long-awaited third album from the Post-Post Punk outfit. Produced by Frenchman Phillippe Zdar (Phoenix, Beastie Boys, Chromeo), In the Grace of You Love exhibits bold and euphoric sound that is definitively and distinctly like The Rapture and no one else. Through the course of its 11 tracks, you can immerse yourself as waves of lyrical optimism and introspection crash between angular guitars and pulsing synthesizers and pounding drums into sweet rhythmical lullabies. This is the sound of The Rapture re-engaged and revitalized with a voice as clear as they ever had. Luke Temple - Don't Act Like You Don't Care (Western Vinyl) .................................................. Before the success of his group Here We Go Magic, Luke Temple worked full-time as a plasterer. At nights after work, he spent his hours crafting what would become Here We Go Magic's self-titled debut. During the days he wrote a completely different set of songs in his head. The resulting record, Don't Act Like You Don't Care, shines with clarity and daylight, in contrast to Here We Go Magic's hazy aquatic debut. Hank III - Ghost to a Ghost / Gutter Town (Hank 3) .................................................. As the grandson of Hank Williams and the son of Hank Jr., he was country music royalty before he ever sang a note. Known for his unique rebel-Country attitude, Hank 3 is releasing three records, and the most highly anticipated of those is the Country double-album. Wu Lyf - Go Tell Fire to the Mountain (LYF) .................................................. WU LYF (an acronym of World Unite Lucifer Youth Foundation) have recorded one of the year's most highly anticipated debut records. The band - a quartet from Manchester UK aged between 20 and 22 - spent much of 2010 purposely avoiding the glare of the UK music industry. Instead they spent the year honing their live shows and perfecting the songs and story that would become Go Tell Fire To The Mountain. Fiercely independent, WU LYF decided to self-record, produce and release their debut album around the world on their own L Y F imprint. The result is a band who have total freedom and a record that is uncompromising, free of pretention and totally pure. The genre, coined by the band themselves, is 'Heavy Pop'. Arcade Fire's 2011 Grammy Award winning Album of the Year, The Suburbs, gets a deluxe anniversary CD / DVD reissue. The CD includes two new tracks (one featuring vocals by David Byrne) and an extended version of "Wasted Hours," in addition to the original album. The DVD includes the Spike Jonze film Scenes from the Suburbs, as well as the companion documentary Behind the Scenes from the Suburbs, and the official music video for "The Suburbs." The exclusive booklet features lyrics and 80 pages of photos taken during the film. Imelda May - Mayhem (Decca) .................................................. Imelda May, born in Dublin and raised in the Liberties, may be an unknown name to some, but to many she is already a superstar. She is unmistakable both in her music (a fusion of surf guitars, blues and rockabilly that wouldn't be out of place in a David Lynch film) and her style, with a solitary curl and shock of blonde in her jet black hair. In Ireland, her debut album 'Love Tattoo', which she recorded and released on her own label, has gone Triple Platinum. She has shared a stage with Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, David Gilmour, Sharon Shannon, Jeff Beck, Shane Macgowan, Kirsty McCall, Van Morrison, Lionel Richie, Wanda Jackson, Paul Brady and Meatloaf. And now, with the release of her new album "Mayhem", she is about to go stellar. Washed Out - Within and Without (Sub Pop) .................................................. After a string of acclaimed EPs and appearances at the Pitchfork Festival and on the TV series Portlandia, Ernest Greene releases his first full-length under his Washed Out moniker, Within and Without. Recorded with Ben Allen, who worked on Merriweather Post Pavilion and Halcyon Digest, the album has the pedigree to be a synth pop critical darling. Free bonus 7" with purchase while supplies last! 311 - Universal Pulse (ATO) .................................................. New studio album from 311. 8.4 million albums sold in the US throughout their career! Album was produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Aerosmith) and was mixed by Chad Sexton. The album was recorded & mixed at 311’s own Hive Studio in Los Angeles. Nikki Jean - Pennies in a Jar (S-Curve) .................................................. Pennies In A Jar began with an idea- Nikki Jean would travel cross-country, working on songs with collaborators who would top any list of the greatest songwriters of all time. The plan was inspired, but also wild and improbable. Who could imagine that a new artist, still in her early 20s, could reach out to a wish list of Hall of fame songwriters, and that so many would say yes? What emerged is a compact musical history: the girl group sound, Motown, classic pop, Philly Soul, a place where country literally meets hip-hop, linked by Nikki Jean’s warmth and her infectious joy. Collaborations with Bob Dylan, Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, Carly Simon, Bobby Braddock, Lupe Fiasco, Black Thought (The Roots), Thom Bell, Lamont Dozier, Paul Williams, Luigi Creatore, and Carole King. -------------------------------------------------- More information about shows and more on the horizon is available for the technologically inclined at http://www.landlockedmusic.com/ or http://www.facebook.com/pages/Landlocked-Music/24299970219 or http://twitter.com/landlockedmusic or http://plus.google.com/102301181209961197707/ We are looking to buy/trade all your old unwanted CDs & LPs!
