New instore performance announced! Monday June 17 - 7PM - Free - Liquor Store (New Joisey) + Thee Open Sex (Btown). "Liquor Store is a massive load of rock and roll fired directly at your chest, the most unabashedly crude and unassumingly genius album of its kind to come out since The Dictators' Go Girl Crazy more than 35 years ago. Liquor Store masters one thing that most rock bands forget: how to rock. Their music employs big, solid riffs flung from multiple electric guitars, memorable choruses, tons of energy, and a full production." Jay Reatard famously threatened the band with a chainsaw and hit a band member in the face with a disco ball! Monday June 17 - 7PM - FREE!!! New Arrivals for June 11th .................................................. Joseph Arthur - Ballad of Boogie Christ (Lonely Astronaut) The Ballad of Boogie Christ is Joseph Arthur's 10th full length studio album recorded over several years and including 19 songs stretched over two records. It is a concept album which is like the great American novel of rock n roll and unlike anything you've heard before or will likely hear again. You've wondered, where is the music of soul and substance that tells stories and pushes lyrical boundaries? Here it is. Black Sabbath - 13 (Universal) Produced by Rick Rubin (7-time Grammy winner). Black Sabbath - Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, the band that defined heavy metal, picks up immediately where they left off with 8 sprawling songs that possess every ounce of the maniacal vitality of the Grammy-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees' trailblazing work in the 70s. Songs such as End of the Beginning, Loner, Dear Father and Age of Reason reinforce 13's testament to the enduring relevance of Black Sabbath's long-running reign. Free stickers, buttons and posters, too. Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest (Warp) One of electronic music's biggest acts of the 90s, the idolized and enigmatic duo are back. After considerable speculation by their rabid fan base (not to mention the media following every step of the way), Boards of Canada have revealed that their new album Tomorrow's Harvest will be released on June 11 via their long time home, Warp Records. Musically, the album is somehow dark yet positive, with atmospheric dissonance and mind-bending melodic creations. CSS - Planta (Street Quality) CSS, short for Cansei de Ser Sexy, haven't wearied of expertly constructed, endearingly hook-filled electro-funk. The Brazilian group, whose name translates to "tired of being sexy". The first track uses spaciously dubby horns, fuzzed-out guitars, and bloopy synths to make the post-breakup blues sound as festive as a boozy weekend outing. "Let's get happy, drinkin' Bloody Mary," CSS chirp. Produced by David Sitek (TV on the Radio). Disclosure - Settle (Interscope) Debut album from the British electronic duo consisting of brothers Gay and Howard Lawrence. Disclosure have been making waves across the pond with their revival of the UK Garage/House sound marked by advanced rhythm combinations and soulful R&B vocal samples. The album includes appearances from Eliza Doolittle, Jamie Woon, Jessie Ware, Ed Mac, Sasha Keable, and others. Jason Isbell - Southeastern (Southeastern) The new solo album from Jason Isbell (Drive by Truckers), contains 12 new compositions and the most personal songs of self-reflection and discovery he has written to date. The lyrics of the beautiful and haunting opening track make it immediately apparent that Isbell is speaking from an entirely new viewpoint. The song features his strongest vocals, but also kicks the door to his soul wide open for all to see. Isbell struggled, fought his demons, and has remained sober. Also, he was recently married and has entered the next chapter of his life. Southeastern is not an album preaching sobriety, but a work of repentance, self-realization and most importantly, personal growth. Jimmy Eat World - Damage (RCA) Seventh studio album from the band. Damage is the follow up to 2010's critically-acclaimed Invented. The album was produced by Jimmy Eat World and Alain Johannes (Mark Lanegan, Chris Cornell) and recorded in the fall of 2012 at the producer's Los Angeles home studio. Mixing duties were left to James Brown's (Sound City, NIN, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) astute hand, and features 10 tracks of new material. Lily & Madeleine - The Weight of the Globe (Asthmatic Kitty) Debut from a pair of Indianapolis sisters, Each song on The Weight of the Globe was written as a discrete, self-contained folk-pop statement, but due to the real-time circumstances of recording it, the EP holds together like a collection of interconnected short stories. Taken as a whole, the songs chart a journey from love to disillusionment to heartbreak; the narrator's weariness in "Tired" persists into "Things I'll Later Lose", while the words to "Back to the River" seemingly return to the same mythic river that flows through "In the Middle." Paul McCartney & Wings - Rockshow DVD (Eagle Rock) In 1975, Paul McCartney and Wings undertook the epic Wings over the World tour, the largest scale tour they would ever undertake as a band. From this tour came both the legendary Wings over America triple live album and the concert film Rockshow. Now for the first time the complete full length concert is being made available fully restored from the original 35mm film and with restored & remastered sound, including a 5.1 mix for the first time. This is Paul McCartney and Wings live on stage in a concert that is destined to live forever! Rodeo Ruby Love - The Pits (Pentimento) With their new album "The Pits", Bloomington's Rodeo Ruby Love have honed their craft in such a way that they have become undeniably masters of their domain. Through twelve songs, The Pits is so catchy and well constructed that it draws comparisons to bands such as Weezer and Motion City Soundtrack. Bob Schneider - Burden Of Proof (Kirtland) It's taken him some time, but, at 47 years old, iconic and revered Austin songwriter Bob Schneider is finally, begrudgingly, hesitatingly ready to admit something: He is not a kid any more. The writing's on the wall for the man the Austin Chronicle has repeatedly called the hardest working man in Austin show business; he's getting older and his tastes are starting to change. So its little surprise to hear that when Schneider talks about Burden of Proof, his whopping 12th solo release since 1998, adult is one of two words he constantly finds himself using to describe it. Sonny and the Sunsets - Antenna to the Afterworld (Polyvinyl) Antenna to the Afterworld is a fast-moving record of new wave synths and post punk beats. The murder of a close friend of the band led Smith to think a lot about death and life after death. Shortly after, a visit to a psychic/medium brought Smith into contact with another friend who had died. This encounter with the afterworld inspired many of the lyrics on the Sonny & the Sunsets' record. And what a strangely entertaining odyssey it turned out to be. Andrew Stockdale [Wolfmother] - Keep Moving (Caroline) The first solo album from the former frontman of Australia's Wolfmother. Stockdale spent the last 3 years writing in and out of studios and hotel rooms, recording with a variety of musicians and fine-tuning the record to a point where he felt he gelled with it. Players and engineers involved in the making of this record featured musicians from the old Wolfmother camp as well as new artists and crew that Stockdale met along the way. Surfer Blood - Pythons (WB) West Palm Beach rock band Surfer Blood present Pythons. Front man JP Pitts, Thomas Fekete (guitar), Kevin Williams (bass) and Tyler Schwarz (drums) recorded Pythons in LA with producer Gil Norton (Pixies, Echo & the Bunnymen.) Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith, GBV) mixed the album. It is the follow-up to Surfer Blood's critically-acclaimed debut album Astro Coast, which earned spots on "best of" lists from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Filter, Paste, NME and the BBC. NPR's Bob Boilen called Astro Coast his "favorite album of 2010" and declared Surfer Blood to be "America's best new pop band." Walter Trout - Luther's Blues: A Tribute To Luther Allison (Provogue) Trout's practical schooling in blues started when he arrived in LA in '73 and got gigs behind Hooker, Big Mama Thornton, Finis Tasby, Pee Wee Crayton, Lowell Fulsom, Percy Mayfield and Joe Tex. In 1981 he joined the remaining original members of Canned Heat. But the real turning point was his tenure with British blues giant John Mayall. Trout became part of the Bluesbreakers' lineage of great guitarists along with Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor. Beginning in 1984 he shared guitar duties with Coco Montoya in Mayall's band, creating a flexible guitar dynamic that helped provide the Bluesbreakers a renaissance that returned the group to the apex of the international blues circuit.
