Austra - Olypmia (Domino) After three years of non-stop touring following the release of 2010's debut Feel It Break, when it came time to record Olympia, Austra had evolved into a collaborative effort between its six members and presents a quantum evolution in the Toronto-based band's sound, structure and style. Baths - Obsidian (Anticon) Three years ago, Baths dropped his startlingly beautiful debut, Cerulean, blurring the line between post-modern pop and the LA beat scene with devastating emotional clarity. Its tone was as celestial as its album title, taken from a shade of blue typically used to describe the sky. Suffused with heavenly choirs, head-nodding percussion, sexually charged lyrics, and wry humor, Obsidian is unusually cohesive work combining universal questions with personal pain. Stephen Kellogg - Blunderstone Rookery (Elm City) Stephen Kellogg delivers his first solo album in 10 years. The title, Blunderstone Rookery is a literary reference to Charles Dickens' David Copperfield. The album was self-produced in conjunction with longtime friend and collaborator Kit Karlson, mixed by Mike Mogis and features guest performances by Travis McNabb and Annie Clements from Sugarland, Sean Watkins from Nickel Creek, Jerry DePizzo from OAR. Killing Joke - Singles Collection 1979-2012 (10 Spot) With a fierce intelligence plus a thirst for esoteric knowledge that matches a music that is visceral and almost spiritual in its primal spirit, Killing Joke are like no other band. This collection captures their ever-evolving story with a series of dark, apocalyptic songs, they have successfully combined Disco and Funk and a shamanic wisdom with the dark side of the Punk fall-out. Their influence has been enormous, with an unlikely roll-call of musicians taking their cues from the KJ catalogue - from Nirvana to most modern American Metal to many DJs and dance music mavericks. Deluxe 3CD edition includes a bonus disc containing 10 rare tracks. Delbert McClinton & Glen Clark - Blind, Crippled & Crazy (New West) Grammy Award winner and Americana legend, Delbert McClinton returns to where he began his recording career over 40 years ago, a duets record with Glen Clark. Delbert & Glen released 2 albums in the early 70s. The two remained friends and now have reunited for Blind, Crippled & Crazy. Produced by Gary Nicholson, the 2013 album delivers all the swampy blues, soul and honky tonk sounds with lyrics and harmonies full of wisdom and wit. Monster Truck - Furiousity (Caroline) Their first full-length album. The title, Furiosity, is a portmanteau of furious and curiosity, as in, wanting to know whats out there, and whats going on, but doing that with aggression and passion. The original plan of getting wasted and playing sloppy rock got twisted into something new entirely. Everyone's influences gelled in a cohesive and exciting new take on all of the classic rock that had come before them. The release of their 2011 The Brown EP, saw two top 5 Rock singles in their native Canada. This propelled the band to new heights, and landed them on tours with Slash, Deep Purple, and playing alongside Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper. Sigur Ros - Kveikur (XL) Kveikur is the band's first release on XL Recordings worldwide. The record, which was self-produced by the three members of Sigur Ros, sees the band shifting towards a more direct, aggressive sound. CD / 2LP / 2LP + bonus 10" w/ 4 bonus tracks available! The Stranglers - Giants (Fontana) The Stranglers are the last true survivors, most highly revered and original British bands to emerge from the late 70s UK punk scene. If the Sex Pistols were the iconic British punk band of the late 70s, The Stranglers were the most genuine, a real reflection of what was going on whilst being the most commercially successful without any compromise. Vieux Farka Toure - Mon Pays (Six Degrees) Vieux Farka Toure's beautiful latest album was recorded as an homage to his homeland. Being that his native Mali has been splintered by territorial fighting between Tuareg and Islamic rebels since January 2012, his new album, Mon Pays, is devoted to reminding the world about the beauty and culture of his homeland. World Is A Beautiful Place - Whenever, If Ever (Top Shelf) Whenever, If Ever is the highly anticipated and long overdue full debut full length for the atmospheric indie rock band from Willimantic, CT. Having released several EPs and splits, The World Is A Beautiful Place deliver an album so huge that these other releases have only hinted at their true potential.
