The day has finally arrived. The downtown parking meters are on, but FREE parking IS available! The first three hours of parking are free in the Walnut Street Garage (near Scottys) and in Fourth Street Garage (near WFHB). These are both within easy walking distance of Landlocked, so you still have plenty of time to browse, grab a bite to eat, and have fun downtown. MUCH more info here. Spread the word and we hope to see you soon! Here's somethin cool to do this Saturday, August 17th at 2PM. Indie rock legends SEBADOH have a new album called DEFEND YOURSELF, coming out on 9/17. Their label, Joyful Noise, is giving Landlocked and a handful of record stores the exclusive first lesson to this new album. Before its leaked, before its on NPR or Pitchfork, before its at iTunes - the first and best and ONLY way to hear it will be on vinyl, nice and loud, at the record store. Better yet, if you pre-order the album at or before this event, you will be entered to win a signed, hand-numbered test pressing of the album! AND the more Sebadoh/Barlow back-catalog you buy, the more entries you get! Two runners up get signed posters. Everyone involved get stickers or buttons and a fun time listening to a great band. Saturday, August 17th at 2PM! See you here. Are you ready for our next free instore performance? Calvin Johnson, founder of K Records, member of Beat Happening, Halo Benders, Dub Narcotic, Hive Dwellers and many more- will be serenading us with an intimate acoustic performance at 5PM at Landlocked Music on Wednesday, September 11th. This will be his only performance in Bloomington on this tour. Save the date for this one! New Arrivals for August 13th .................................................. Valerie June - Pushin Against A Stone (Concord) Valerie brings an eclectic mix of folk, soul, Appalachian, bluegrass, blues and gospel to her unique sound. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter from Jackson, Tennessee, Valerie honed her sound in the vibrant Memphis atmosphere. The majority of her debut album, Pushin Against a Stone, was produced by Kevin Augunas (Florence & the Machine, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros) and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys with the track Workin Woman Blues produced by Peter Sabak in Budapest. Pushin Against a Stone will be released in August through Concord Music Group. The Moondoggies - Adios I'm A Ghost (Hardly Art) After two successful releases and a seemingly non stop touring/live show schedule, Seattle's number one sons continue their brand of soothing, soulful, rocking barn burners and beautiful ballads. Adios I'm a Ghost is a quintessential Northwest record that captures the raucous boogie of their debut and the symphonic sadness and delicate nature of their sophmore release and marries the two to make what can only be called "the Moondoggies sound." Lovingly and beautifully recorded at Bear Creek Studios, this is Moondoggies at their finest. Seattle's favorites today, tomorrow the world's. Harry Nilsson - Flash Harry [reissue] (Varese) Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this extremely rare 1980 album from the singer/songwriter. Flash Harry was the 16th and final album released by Harry Nilsson. Originally issued only on vinyl in the U.K. and Japan. This legendary album has never been released in the U.S., and has not been available on CD. The album features Nilsson's own recording of "Old Dirt Road", co-written and performed with John Lennon on Lennon's album Walls and Bridges (1974). Other song collaborators include Lowell George, Van Dyke Parks and Ringo Starr. The opening track 'Harry' is performed by Eric Idle and Charlie Dore. The CD also includes three previously unreleased songs and an alternate version of "Old Dirt Road." The album was produced by famed guitarist Steve Cropper (best known as the guitarist of the Stax Records house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s). Royal Teeth - Glow (Dangerbird) Debut full length from the Lafayette, LA upstarts. Recorded this winter in Toronto with producer Gavin Brown (Metric), Royal Teeth entered the studio focused and ready to showcase the energy and spirited joy of the live shows that have drawn audiences to the band all around the country. The follow-up to their widely acclaimed debut EP Act Naturally, Glow is an engaging collection of indie-pop tracks that celebrate the band's thirst for exploration and youthful adventures into the unknown, themes first explored in the band's infectious breakout single 'Wild.' Transitshop - Velocity (Rock Ridge) Chris O'Brien started playing guitar at the age of 12, in 2010 he formed Transitshop with the debut EP, and went on to develop his skills as a rock lead guitarist. The debut, Velocity, from this Philadelphia, PA based trio, primarily focuses on distorted tones and complex solos. After a period of fevered inspiration, Chris crafted the indie-pop persona that is heard on the trio's debut, and continues to their live performances, where they've shared the stages with such bands as Alkaline Trio, Walk The Moon, A Silent Film, Empires, An Horse, State Radio. Washed Out - Paracosm (Sub Pop) The music recorded by Ernest Greene as Washed Out has been nothing if not dreamy, and on his second full-length, Paracosm, he takes the dreamlike, otherworldly atmospheres of his music beyond the nocturnal, computer/synth-based sounds of their acclaimed debut, Within and Without. With its gorgeous execution and uplifting attitude, Paracosm is primed to be this year's summer record. Paracosm was recorded at in Atlanta with Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter, Gnarls Barkley, Washed Out Within and Without) at Maze Studios. First press of LP on colored vinyl! Barrence Whitfield & the Savages - Dig Thy Savage Soul (Bloodshot) Barrence Whitfield is a full-throttle soul screamer in the spirit of Little Richard, Wilson Pickett, and Solomon Burke. He has been described as the owner of one incredible pair of lungs, with limitless energy and unmatched enthusiasm for his music and his audience. Barrence is a rarity in this business-one of a few black, rock n roll singer/entertainers who Spin Magazine says maintains a frenzied performance. Whitfield is a performer so consumed with satisfying his audiences that he has been called 'crazed, frenetic and completely unhinged.' Wild Feathers - s/t (WB) The Wild Feathers are a truly American band: their music takes elements of the best of rock, country, folk and blues music and reshapes it in a way that is both unique and modern. Ricky Young, Joel King, Taylor Burns, Preston Wimberly and Ben Dumas grew up steeped in music; playing solo gigs, touring with local bands and working at venues. The guys came together in Austin in 2010 through coincidence, mutual friends, and a shared love of the classics: Petty, Dylan, Cash, The Band, Allman Bros, Graham Parsons and Neil Young. The young band spent the next year writing and defining their sound before heading into the studio to record with producer Jay Joyce (Cage the Elephant, Emmylou Harris).
